fulfilling trip

JUMP SHOT! Haha! I love the backdrop. It's super pretty. And guess what, this photo was taken at the school field of the school we went to teach at! How nice to go school to such a beautiful view everyday. =D

Anyway, yep, I realise I really should start posting more about the trip! Or else, I will never update my blog. Haha! I shall not go day by day since it's freaking 11 days so it will take me forever before I finish typing out everything. I'm just going to type whatever comes to my mind.

First, of course will be the CIP part. I'll type out something that I wrote down after the last day at school.

These 5 days with the children were really amazing. I learned so much from them. Their enthusiasm, their eagerness to learn. Their gratitude towards us really touched my heart. I didn't really expect myself to really not want to leave them. I know I will feel sad but I am really feeling the kind of feeling where I really just want to stay with them longer. Continue teaching them! Seeing them in class for the past 5 days really made a great difference to my life. Changed my view and gave me a lot of perceptions on everything. They really enlighten me greatly. I am really going to miss them. I didn't really get to talk much to them but ah.. I just love them. They really love us a lot. It made me feel really happy when they wanted me to sign their book. I mean yea, it's a simple gesture yet it still made me feel happy. And when they wanted to take photos with me willingly! Like they came up to me and say they want to take photo with Yifang Jiejie! Ah! I felt so touched. LOL! it may sound stupid but really, I felt this really happy feeling. To know that you really made a great impact on their lives. How they will remember your name forever, even though you don't remember most of their names. Feeling quite sad how I didn't get a lot of their names. Ah. Sucks that they don't have Facebook too! I want them to see their photos as well! They are really cute kids. Didn't expect sec 2 kids to be so cute and eager to learn. They really made my heart feel so warm in this cold place.

Our class of 54 students! =)

They are really sweet children who touched our hearts and really made us want to stay longer for them. On the last day, they kept telling us to stay awhile longer. They really didn't want us to go and we really didn't feel like leaving. Those 5 days with them really left a great impact on them and on us as well. As much as they learned from us greatly, the things we learned from them were worth way more than the English that they got from us. Of course, I do hope that whatever we taught them would be with them forever. And I think it would. I told a student that she must always remember the things we taught them, and her reply was "Of course I will!". I felt so happy hearing that you know. It shows just how much those short 5 days will be forever etched in their minds. How this experience that we gave them will always be remembered by them. AHHHHHH. I miss them so much suddenly. It really really really sucks how we can't truly keep in contact with them since it's China where Facebook is blocked. They have this QQ thing yet we don't. I gave my email to my buddy but I'm really not sure if they know how to use email and all.

I gave my buddy a long letter in English too. Haha! I mean yea, I want her to find the meaning on her own and ok, partly I was lazy to write the whole thing is Chinese but yes! I'm helping her improve her English! But yes!! She told me she would go check out the meaning if she doesn't understand. I hope that letter would be of great inspiration to her. HAHA! Ok, so full of myself but yes, I really hope that she will really study hard and do really well. She's a really smart girl and I know she can do a lot of great things. And she would really ask me when she doesn't get it.

The eager to learn spirit that I saw in all of them really makes me feel the strong urge to want to teach them, to help them in whatever ways we can during that period of time. Some of their English were really bad. And I really feel like staying longer to help them. They all have the potential to do well. They are really enthusiastic in learning. Whenever we asked a question, they will all respond as a class loudly and clearly. It's so nice to hear such great response. Makes you feel really happy. Haha!

And their class spirit is really strong even though the class is huge. We were playing Charades with them and one of the word is Singer. So we asked them who can sing the best. They pointed out 2 guys and they came forward. And they started to sing. Then, the whole class started singing along as well!!! At that moment, I felt this warm chill kinda thing. LOL! This touched feeling. It was so sweet seeing the whole class sing together. I always like it when like the whole class sing together. HAHA! 4E1's singing to Ms Tan. I felt how Ms Tan might have been feeling. This really warm feeling. Though the students weren't really singing for us, it still felt really nice seeing the whole class sing together. You can see the class spirit there somehow. It just felt warm and sweet.

This photo was taken when they were all singing. Should have video it down!!

We sang for them on the last day as well! We sang Peng You and another English song. And ah, I really miss them. I hope that I can still see them again someday. I don't want that to be our last meeting. I feel so happy taking photos of them. LOL! Like I won't really spam photos of them. They are nice to take photos of. =D I love their expressions. And their smiles are really sweet. It makes me feel happy seeing them smile. There's this innocence in their smiles.

Teaching them was really a good experience. Being there with them, this was really what I signed up for. Ok, not totally but yes, I wanted to do something for the kids. I'm not sure to what extent we had helped them but I know that they will remember this experience forever and I really hope that it will change their lives sort of thing. Haha! I mean yea, I know we are no superheroes but I really hope that this experience that we gave them will help them somehow.

I really do hope to see them again. I think it might be possible 'cause almost all of us want to go back again. And yes, next up is about the people who went on this trip with me. I love my OCIP team mates!! Haha! They are really awesome? Everyone is nice to talk to and friendly. They are fun people yet you can tell that they didn't sign up for OCIP just to have fun. They really want to help the students there as well. You can see the passion in them.

Ok, I think I shall talk more about that in the next post. Heh. I'm feeling tired. Easy to feel tired lately. I've got so much more stuffs to share!!!! This trip is really worth it. I'm really glad that I ended up in this trip out of the 3 OCIP trips. I think our trip is the best. =D Haha! We had fun, we serve, we bonded, we are just the best lar huh. =D

And yes!! Yunnan is a beautiful place. Haha! Really must go there at least once in your lifetime. It's really worth going. Ah.. I've really too much stuffs to say already. LOL! Thankfully there's photos. Haha! Refresh my memory.

OK! Time to sleep! I'm actually going to start studying tmr. LOL! Hopefully, I do study in the end. Feel so lazy lar!
